Perfectionism can be both a shield and a barrier to change for our clients. In this experiential pre-conference workshop, therapists will explore how motivational interviewing (MI) can gently disrupt the rigid narratives of perfectionism, especially when brought to life through the dynamic methods of psychodrama. Participants will learn how to embody MI principles through action-based techniques, using role reversal, doubling, and future projections to deepen client insight and motivation for change. Skills training for psychodrama 1:1 for use in individual therapy will also be provided. This workshop emphasizes real-time practice, clinician self-awareness, and creative ways to help clients let go of impossible standards, without letting go of their drive.
